Abenaki Cultivar Jerusalem Artichokes

Abenaki agriculture was honed to this land and environment for 11,000 years.
UVM has a strong Agriculture Dept. Their research now includes Abenaki cultivars.

It was related to seasonal growth and use with areas becoming “farmed”. Our cultivar has several stands around the Poets’ Garden and spreads easily. At this time of the year with the back drop of Peak Leaf Season the yellow sun flowers are glorious and remind us of an ancient Peoples, who knew how to nourish and feed themselves from this land.
With eyes open, we are learning.
